After I'd drawn Rose for awhile, I got the idea of having her attend high school. People have asked me whether it's a real school or only in her mind, and I'm honestly not sure.

 When school's out for the summer, Rose and her gang head for the beach, like the beach party movies from the 60's, with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Moondoogy was the name of one of Frankie's characters. If you've never seen any of the beach party movies, you're missing a good time. They're an absolute hoot.
