Cortez had it easy. On his search for El Dorado and the Fountain of Youth, he only had to contend with the elements and natives. These conquistidors only wish they were so lucky.
Come for that jungle ambiance. And the gold. But stay for the dinosaurs.
"Quezecoatl" draws upon the best elements of historical action and pulp adventure. It's like "The Lost World" with Spanish explorers. You can probably guess what's going to happen from there, but it's great ride. Ultimately this raw enthusiasm for the subject matter is what I love about Gerry's work. When he decides to do a story about something, he gets right to the point and has fun with it.
On top of that, the artwork sells it. Just wait until you see the beasties, and you'll understand title a little more.

I can't begin to explain the effect Ms. Barr's work has had on me. Despite the fastastic elements (of which there are no few) her stories and deeply moving, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, frequenly both at once.
Many, many moons ago, I stumbled across Stinz: Family Values, and was immediately impressed. Long story short: I went and found every Stinz collection I could, and along the way met this Desert Peach guy, too. And watching Desert Peach move from farcical comedy to human drama was, no hyperbole, dumbfouding. I really truly did feel like a bomb had gone off in my brain. Like so many of her fans, I couldn't help but wish that somehow, somewhere they might meet. ('cause believe me, the half-horse and the gay nazi could have quite a conversation--they're both veterans) And now, years later, those prayers are answered! READ IT!

Charming and delightful, beautifully drawn and well researched: Felina: The Silver Cross is a gem.
Drawing on the best of the European comics tradition, IngaLill Roesberg's line is joyful, informative, and lush with detail. The characters are presented in a sympathetic fashion and it is easy to become enmeshed in Roesberg's twisting plot tendrils of music, murder, and political intrigue. Will Folloka survive battle, rejoin her family, and realize her dreams as a Skald (Viking Court Poet)? Read and find out. You won't be sorry.
